Columbus Architectural Salvage is owned and operated by Chris Sauer.  In 1987, Chris entered Miami University’s School of Architecture and graduated with a degree in American Studies and History.

While in college, Chris spent his summers working as a carpenter framing houses in the Columbus area.  He was active with Habitat for Humanity and was the co-founder and president of the Miami University Chapter of Habitat for Humanity.

Upon graduation, Chris pursued a career in historic preservation combining his interests in architecture and history.  He worked for six years in Columbus’ Historic Preservation Office where he served as the Assistant Historic Preservation Officer, providing staff support to the city’s historic district architectural review boards.

In 1998, Chris went to work for a local remodeling company and in 2000 he founded Sauer’s Carpentry Services.  Since 1993, Chris has worked on the renovation of many historic structures in the Columbus area, including his own Victorian home.

Struggling with the lack of local resources of vintage building parts for his renovation projects, Chris founded Columbus Architectural Salvage in 2006 to serve the needs of those involved in the renovation of older buildings.

Columbus Architectural Salvage is here to serve as a resource for homeowners, architects, builders and designers looking for antique or reproduction building materials to use in their projects.
